The Young Hatters won the Youth Alliance Cup tonight after beating Colchester 6-2 :-)

*insert a lot of expletives here*

This year i’ll be running/walking/stumbling/crawling for Diabetes UK. Please please please sponsor me by clicking here

Methinks now may be the time to realise the treadmill’s not just for surfing down….

So Swindon let us down and lost and we only managed a draw. Nerves and inexperience were obvious today amongst the County players with a lot of passes not being completed. Still well done to Bury, who marked very tightly for most of the game, which means, unless that almost impossible happens, their place in the league is secure.

A win next week could mean we still reach the play offs, but whatever happens, this will be the moment of the season for me:

After all there’s no other club that can say they’ve won 9 consecutive matches without conceding a goal. Even better than that, at the end of the match, you see the players and management go round the fans applauding us – this was not a one off, but happens at the end of every match – how many other teams can say they do that?

As long as we beat Bury and Swindon beat Bristol, tomorrow by 5 PM we’ll have our play off place!

You’ll never usually hear this, but for tomorrow only….

COME ON SWINDON!

I think it should also be noted that if Swindon do let us down, I may not speak to Glyn for a long time….blood thicker than water…? Maybe, but this is football ;)

Alan Ball, who was the youngest member of the 1966 England team, has died today of a heart attack.

England payers will wear black armbands as a mark of respect in the first England match to be played at the new Wembley on 1st June.

….with Styx and Thin Lizzy as support!

So Thin Lizzy kicked the night off with Jailbreak and although most of the crowd weren’t there for Lizzy, they really got the audience going with everyone on their feet when they finished with ‘The Boys Are Back in Town’, and as always dedicated their part of the show to the memory of Phil.

Styx were on next, but unfortunately weren’t as well received by the audience. Pete says you can tell the difference without the original lead singer, but maybe because I never saw them perfor live with the original line up, I couldn’t. With Styx, they try to get the audience involved as much as possible, but this failed somewhat, as most of the audience didn’t know the lines to any of the songs. If Styx do tour on their own, will def go to see them again, just need to work out who to drag with me….

I think with both of the ’support’ acts the atmosphere would have been much better if the audience had come to see them rather than just waiting for the main act. Only the lower tiers had been on sale for the MEN, so it felt half empty and am sure would have been better for all of the acts if they had played in a smaller venue.

Even when Purple came on stage, there wasn’t a point where they had everyone up on their feet. I did wonder if it was just because I didn’t recognise all of the songs that I felt something was missing, but comparing it to Dylan last week, I didn’t know any of his songs , but was up and dancing to most.

Even still, I enjoyed myself, as did Pete and am very happy with my new tops! :-)

So I was a bit dubious about how you could get Peter Kay to act in a play without turning it into The Peter Kay Show, but I have to admit it was done superbly. Peter managed to fit in most of his trademarks whilst playing the part and when he first appeared wearing a dress, the audience was in hysterics….if you’re lucky enough to have tickets keep an eye on him throughout, even when he’s not on stage!
