July 2005

Big birthday hugs for Saima who’s 5 today..

and to Mr Howard, who would’ve had a better pic posted if he had a computer!

Not sure about this one…on the one hand the factory looked almost as I’d imagined it from first reading the book several years ago, but on the other hmmmmm. The Oompa Loompa’s are meant to be a race of people not just a clone of one of them, and Willy Wonka was too mean rather than ‘eccentric’. Although Johnny played him well, he still reminded me of a cross between Michael Jackson and the lead character from Clocwork Orange….

Methinks I need to watch the original ….

…..is everyone who has an Ipod will have at least song on there that they don’t remember putting on it – mine is purely the music I’ve d/l’d and I spent the journey home racking my tired braincell trying to work out when the hell I downloaded Kung Fu Fighting! Am pretty sure the reason behind the download would have been every time I hear the song I have a flash back of Andrea trying to do a very high, that turned into a very dodgy, kick in the middle of (ahem) Masters *looks away in shame* one Friday night many moons ago…

Am sure my devoted readers must have dodgier songs on theirs….

Spent this afternoon playing Monopoly with Sarah, who spent most of it in jail! Nan says it’s good to see we’re friends since we used to always argue when we were younger…and even went as far to say this was sarah’s fault for winding me up

Til the first match of the season  Sarah wants to check Ste has been saving his money over the summer…not for his and Tess’s wedding, but to buy her pies at half time!

Peanut butter and banana on toast! Tis lovely :-)

Four days into the team and the first one’s already leaving….admittedly Ben actually resigned 4 weeks ago but never mind  It did mean we all traipsed over to the pub for lunch. Seeing me there at that time confoosed Noz, who actually checked I wanted a drink before pouring it. Still meant I got to have one of Bob’s lovely omlettes.

With Neil’s last day tomorrow, he’s going out with his team tonight. I was invited to join them, but am so tired all I’m fit to do is sleep!

Taken from the HighwayCode:

150: Box junctions. These have criss-cross yellow lines painted on the road. You MUST NOT enter the box until your exit road or lane is clear. However, you may enter the box and wait when you want to turn right, and are only stopped from doing so by oncoming traffic, or by other vehicles waiting to turn right.
Law TSRGD regs 10(1) & 29(2)

What they should also say is if you are blocking a box junction (espescially the one at Yew street) don’t be too shocked if a certain cyclist starts mouthing ‘it’s a box juction – you’re not meant to be there and you’re blocking my ****ing way’ at you…

Went for a pizza after work with Neil and Claire – confused the staff by asking for 3 starters instead of a pizza….

For some reason Claire had decided that we were supposed to be meeting at the Portwood Pizza Hut, not sure why as we’ve never been there before and we’d had a conversation minutes earlier when I’d said we gone past Portwood and were heading up to scrote central…

We had a new round at the quiz where we had to identify the sound…we were tricked by Bert’s phone that went off at the time the first sound should have… will see if it gets any easier next week…if I manage to stay awake for that one!

Taken from ‘The Little Book of Management B*ll*cks’

“The annual performace revew can be an arduous experience for many people. Empower your staff by inviting them to estimate their own cash value to the organisation.

(Test their self confidence by pretending you think the sum mentioned is in pesetas.)”

Spent the day observing John doing pay reviews, one of those days where I’ve possible learnt a lot…only problem is my body clock thinks it should be lunch time now, not bed time…
