March 2005

Not quite the 8-0 demolition they were served in Poland at the weekend, but still another 3 points in the bag for us. I only saw the last 10 mins, but Joe Cole looked impressive and our captain seems to have figured out his place in the team isn’t a given….

Had another day tackling the garden today, Sarah came round to help out and did a great job, so good that I left her to it and went to clear out my wardrobe – over the past almost 5 years at work, I’ve gained a lot of togs, most of which now don’t comply with the new guidelines, so thought it was time for a clear out.

I also cleared out some of the clothes I’ve bought, but hardly if ever wear, the intention was to take them to the charity shop in the precinct, but Sarah’s snagged most of them…hopefully this will mean I get my DKNY top she ‘borrowed’ a few months ago back!

Despite what the scoreline may sugest, it wasn’t the walk in the park England expected. Now I know as a footy fan I’m expected to be fickle, but the majority of the game we didn’t play that well and we def won’t win anything silver unless we step up the pace.

In the first half we created a number of chances and should’ve had a comfortable lead before the break. The second half we did play better, but again a lot of chances went begging. Beckham didn’t play any where near as well as he should’ve done..

On the plus point, if Poland beat Azkerberwhatsit 8-0, we should have another few goals to add to the tally on Wednesday night, that is if we don’t get too complacent….

A man, his wife, and his mother-in-law went on vacation to the Holy Land.
While they were there, the mother-in-law passed away.
The undertaker told them, “You can have her shipped home for $5,000, or you can bury her here in the Holy Land for $150.00.”
The man thought about it and told him he would just have her shipped home.
The undertaker asked, “Why would you spend $5,000 to ship your mother-in-law home, when it would be wonderful to be buried here and spend only $150.00?”
The man replied, “A man died here 2000 years ago, was buried here, and three days later he rose from the dead. I just can’t take that chance.”

Yes – you did read that right, but don’t worry, it was the reserves playing in the Pontin’s League

The match turned into an almost disaster for the stewards – they wouldn’t allow anyone to sit in the higher tier of Cheadle Stand, so whilst they were busy minding that – we had a pitch invasion at half time! Almost all the under 16 year olds in the ground invaded the pitch at half time led by a little lad who only looked about 6 who had decided he wanted to see the Railway End goal.

Whilst the stewards were sorting this out (and threatening to abandon the match) the scrotes had got back into the stands and were nicely position County fans on one side of Upper Stand – United fans on each, so the stewards had to stand as a human wall between them for the whole second half. Why they hadn’t thought about this potential clash before the match (espescially as it was cheap tickets, half term and a derby match!)and segregated the fans is anyone’s guess.

Not quite sure what happened with the match, was more interesting watching the scrotes – tis the best £2’s worth of entertainment I’ve had in a long time….

Did see the wonderful Stuart Barlow score for County though, and just caught Le Fondre’s goal…he seems good, but still a bit of a way off first team playing. I guess United scored from the fans’ reaction, but didn’t actually see their goal.

Ho hum, first team footy just isn’t gonna seem the same now…
