JK Rowling’s announced a release date for Harry Potter no 6…..00.01 hs on 16th July 2005. I know where I’ll be heading on the Friday night before when the pub kicks out then

I didn’t get Order of the Phoenix as soon as it was released, I decided to read the other 4 first, so bought number 5 the following Saturday. :) Suppose I should buy Philiosopher’s Stone and Chamber of secrets as well, as we’d borrowed these before buying 3 and 4.

Just to get everyone a bit excited, here’s an extract from Bloomsbury’s site. :

“In the previous book, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the last chapter, titled ‘The Second War Begins,’ started:

‘In a brief statement on Friday night, Minister for Magic Cornelius Fudge confirmed that He Who Must Not Be Named has returned to this country and is once more active.

“It is with great regret that I must confirm that the wizard styling himself Lord — well, you know who I mean — is alive and among us again,” said Fudge.’

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince takes up the story of Harry Potter’s sixth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry at this point as Voldemort’s power and followers are increasing day by day, in the midst of this battle of good and evil.

The author has already said that the Half-Blood Prince is neither Harry nor Voldemort.”

Decided as it’s a bank holiday and very limited bus service to work and a none existant one back again, to cycle in today on my new bike. When I say new, I really mean has been sat in the shed and not used for the 3 months since it was bought. So yesterday we trekked to Decathlon and bought myself a helmet and Bert attatched the lights on. Tried it out on the street and everything seemed fine.

Got half way to work and thought the saddle was hurting a bit, but at least to work is downhill – down Osbourne Street in the slush, am lucky I didn’t kill myself lol Arrived at work, in less than half hour, feeling pretty pleased with myself…until I tried to walk. Saddle sore doesn’t come close.

Convinced Bert to give me a lift home, but the evil machine wouldn’t fit in his car, so had to cycle, with a very sore rear end on an evil saddle in the pouring down rain uphill. :( To make things more interesting the winds then picked up so as hard as I was cycling up Stockport Road the wind was pushing just as hard back so I didn’t seem to move very far. Still managed to get home in about 3/4 hour. May have to do it again tomorrow to see if I can improve on times

Just for the extra amusement value, as soon as I’d thrown the bike in the shed and got into the house, it stopped raining grrrr

All went to plan with me cooking lunch, apart from giving Bert and Sarah the wrong plates, Sprog ended up with all the sweetcorn whereas Bert had peas on his plate, which were distastefully shoved to the edge lol Apart from that all went well and again, no complaints. Mum has found another 2 fans of her xmas pud tho.

After lunch, ‘Millionaire’ went back on and with the combined efforts of the 8 of us, Kirsty on the phone and good old google, we reached the million :)

Then it was off to EP for the Boxing Day match against Brizzle…we lost….we shouldn’t have. The first half was promising, but after they scored early in the second half from a very sloppy should have been saved twice goal, county fell apart and forgot all the good stuff they learnt like passing the ball to each other. The referee didn’t help either, general consesus was he’s a word rhyming with banker….

Then a trip to Maccy D’s to refill (and for Rupert to get lots of Incredibles phone stuffs) and it was off to the MEN arena to watch Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 2 on Ice. Was very impressed, the skating was brilliant and the choreography amazing. We even had special guest appearances from Mickey Minnie Donald and Goofy :) Methinks will definitely go to see other Disney on Ice’s when they come to town. Also think I have found my dream job…I want to be an iceskating Disney character!

Was actually up and ready when Phil came to pick me up this morning, so was a good start to the day. Mum made a lovely xmas dinner, and not even Nan complained. Sarah was full up by the end and couldn’t finish her pudding, so the traditional miracle has occurred.

After lunch, Mum put together the scalextric I bought her and proceeded to beat Phil in every round, even though her lap counter wasn’t clicking over properly. Nan also managed to keep us amused – we’d given her Bucks Fizz at lunch  She was intrigued by the giant Scooby dog I bought Mum from Florida, espescially when Mum told her that her and Sarah talk to it. Being called insane by someone with Alzeimer’s really is an achievement!

Afterwards we played the dvd version of ‘Millionaire’. Almost got to the 32k mark, but answered the last question incorrectly. Grandad who has travelled the world was no use what-so-ever with the geography questions, whereas Nan’s random guesses were spookily correct. She just got very confoosed when we turned the game off and the actual show was on tv.

So day ones over with and it’s everyone round here tomorrow for lunch, before hopefully going to the match. The first proper white xmas in years and I’m praying it doesn’t disrupt play lol.

….to all of my readers. Hope everyone got what they wished for.

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire,
Jack Frost nipping on your nose,
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir,
And folks dressed up like Eskimos.

Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe,
Help to make the season bright.
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow,
Will find it hard to sleep tonight.

They know that Santa’s on his way;
He’s loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh.
And every mother’s child is going to spy,
To see if reindeer really know how to fly.

And so I’m offering this simple phrase,
To kids from one to ninety-two,
Although its been said many times, many ways,
A very Merry Christmas to you

Don’t forget to track Santa’s journey…

…Just make sure you’re all asleep before he arrives at your house, or he won’t leave any presents!

…to everyone who told me there was a problem with the site. As you can see tis now sorted. Thing that amused me is that as soon as I am without blog, I thought of a million things I needed to post… now all I can remember from yesterday is people telling me my site was broke and Paul bringing his very cute baby into work …
