<p>When I arrived they were getting ready for Leon&#8217;s 3rd birthday tomorrow, with the plan being to make a train shaped birthday cake&#8230;I was very impressed with the finished result&#8230;well done Mr Batty, you have hidden talents!</p>

<p>Nan had a bit of a grumpy start to her birthday, ripping the banner the carers were putting up for her, but seemed to have settled by the time I got there. She was very happy and smiley whilst opening cards and presents, but seemed to be more concerned with the wrapping paper than what was inside!</p>
<p><a href="http://blog.badangel.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Photo005.jpg"><img src="http://blog.badangel.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Photo005-225x300.jpg" alt="" title="Photo005" width="225" height="300" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-2837" /></a> <a href="http://blog.badangel.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Photo008.jpg"><img src="http://blog.badangel.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Photo008-225x300.jpg" alt="" title="Photo008" width="225" height="300" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-2838" /></a></p>
<p>The home had put on some entertainment, as it had been another lady&#8217;s birthday the day before and Nan was sharing her birthday with another resident. The entertainer sange Frank Sinatra songs and had everyone who could up dancing, inluding Nan. It&#8217;s a shame Auntie Lillian and Uncle Frank couldn&#8217;t come, as I&#8217;m sure they&#8217;d have enjoyed it. I had to nip out to collect Rex from the groomers and the entertainers had just finished when I got back. Nan was very excited about it all, pointing and telling me what had happened.</p>
<p><a href="http://blog.badangel.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Photo009.jpg"><img src="http://blog.badangel.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Photo009-300x225.jpg" alt="" title="Photo009" width="300" height="225" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-2839" /></a></p>
<p>After afternoon juice, we went to sit out in the garden in the sun. We were pointing out things in the garden when Nan remembered she had a garden where she used to live in Clifton and also remembered Grandad. Small things like this might not seem much to most families, but it is a huge thing for nan to remember as her dementia is so advanced.</p>
<p><a href="http://blog.badangel.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Photo012.jpg"><img src="http://blog.badangel.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Photo012-300x225.jpg" alt="" title="Photo012" width="300" height="225" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-2840" /></a></p>
<p>I stayed with her at tea time where she was presented with abirthday cake and we sang happy birthday to her. Nan wasn&#8217;t too impressed by this though and just wanted to eat the cake! She finished off her tea time with a helping of jelly and cream, and was still sat in the dining room working her way through her second afters when the other residents had all finished and gone back to the lounge.</p>
<p><a href="http://blog.badangel.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Photo0141.jpg"><img src="http://blog.badangel.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Photo0141-300x225.jpg" alt="" title="Photo014" width="300" height="225" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-2841" /></a></p>
<p>After all this fun, I should hope she sleeps well, I know I&#8217;m exhausted and need to go back to work to recover!</p>
