In “Iron Man 2,” the world is aware that billionaire inventor Tony Stark is the armored Super Hero Iron Man. Under pressure from the government, the press and the public to share his technology with the military, Tony is unwilling to divulge the secrets behind the Iron Man armor because he fears the information will slip into the wrong hands. With Pepper Potts and James “Rhodey” Rhodes at his side, Tony forges new alliances and confronts powerful new forces.

Action packed from beginning to end, I thought this was a very watchable film and didn’t notice the 2 hours flying by. From the reviews I’ve read online, the film has taken a bit of a slating, with critics comparing Downey Jrs character to a modern day hero version of Dean Martin, which personally I don’t see as a bad thing, or saying it’s detracted from its comic book roots..again having not read the comic books, this didn’t bother me either. Stay til the end to watch a teaser for ther next film :-)

Teenager Michael Oher is surviving on his own, virtually homeless, when he is spotted on the street by Leigh Anne Tuohy. Learning that the young man is one of her daughter’s classmates, Leigh Anne insists that Michael — wearing shorts and a t-shirt in the dead of winter — come out of the cold. Without a moment’s hesitation, she invites him to stay at the Tuohy home for the night. What starts out as a gesture of kindness turns into something more as Michael becomes part of the Tuohy family despite the differences in their backgrounds. And, as the family helps Michael fulfill his potential, both on and off the football field, Michael’s presence in the Tuohys’ lives leads them to some insightful self-discoveries of their own.

I think the reason I liked this film is because I hope, that if I was in the position that Leigh Anne found herself in, I would do the same. Unlike some of the critics, I didn’t find the film too preachy and whilst the film may encourage viewers to examine themselves a bit closer, the lessons given are delivered with humour. This is certainly a film to laugh along with, rather than to cry at.

From Walt Disney Pictures and visionary director Tim Burton comes an epic fantasy adventure, a magical and imaginative twist on some of the most beloved stories of all time. Johnny Depp stars as the Mad Hatter and Mia Wasikowska as 19-year-old Alice, who returns to the whimsical world she first encountered as a young girl, reuniting with her childhood friends: the White Rabbit, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Dormouse, the Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat, and of course, the Mad Hatter. Alice embarks on a fantastical journey to find her true destiny and end the Red Queen’s reign of terror.

So this is what happens when Alice goes back to Wonderland; to fall down a rabbit hole once is an accident, but a second time several tears later (and being pushed by Tim Burton) adds heaps more fun and sillyness to proceedings :-) Now I want to watch it again in 3d

A young girl, who has been murdered, watches over her family — and her killer — from heaven. She must weigh her desire for vengeance against her desire for her family to heal.

I was expecting this to be like an episode of Ghost Whisperer where the deceased helps the living find out who killed them, whereas this is more the soul of the dead girl is watching over her family, and her killer, but its the love the family feel for their lost relative that leads them to find out the truth. Stanley Tucci plays the murderer almost too well and his performance will definitely give you the creeps!

Trouble-prone Percy Jackson is having problems in high school – but that’s the least of his challenges. It’s the 21st century, but the gods of Mount Olympus seem to have walked out of the pages of Percy’s Greek mythology texts and into his life. Percy has learned that his real father is Poseidon, god of the sea, which means Percy is a demigod – half human, half god. At the same time, the powerful gods on Olympus are feuding, which could launch a war enveloping our entire planet.

Not quite sure how well this fits with Greek mythology, but it was entertaining enough to keep me quiet on a cold afternoon!

Thomas Craven is a veteran homicide detective for the Boston Police Department and a single father. When his only child, 24-year-old Emma, is murdered on the steps of his home, everyone assumes that he was the target. But, he soon suspects otherwise, and embarks on a mission to find out about his daughter’s secret life and her murder. His investigation leads him into a dangerous looking-glass world of corporate cover-ups, government collusion and murder — and to CIA operative Darius Jedburgh, who has been sent in to clean up the evidence. Craven’s solitary search for answers about his daughter’s death transforms into an odyssey of emotional discovery and redemption.

Definitely not one you can fall asleep to, not just because you’d get lost from the plot, but also as the sound of gun fire will wake you up! This was anopther filnm I’d gone to not knowing anything about the storyline and not really expecting much, but I was pleasantly suprised :-)

Sherlock Holmes has made his reputation finding the truth at the heart of the most complex mysteries. With the aid of Dr. John Watson, his trusted ally, the renowned “consulting detective” is unequaled in his pursuit of criminals of every stripe, whether relying on his singular powers of observation, his remarkable deductive skills, or the blunt force of his fists. But now a storm is gathering over London, a threat unlike anything that Holmes has ever confronted…and just the challenge he’s looking for. After a string of brutal, ritualistic murders, Holmes and Watson arrive just in time to save the latest victim and uncover the killer: the unrepentant Lord Blackwood. As he approaches his scheduled hanging, Blackwood — who has terrorized inmates and jailers alike with his seeming connection to dark and powerful forces — warns Holmes that death has no power over him and, in fact, his execution plays right into Blackwood’s plans. And when, by all indications, Blackwood makes good on his promise, his apparent resurrection panics London and confounds Scotland Yard. But to Holmes, the game is afoot. Racing to stop Blackwood’s deadly plot, Holmes and Watson plunge into a world of the dark arts and startling new technologies, where logic is sometimes the best crime-fighting weapon…but where a good right hook will often do the job.

Anna found parts of this film to be a bit slow, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and not just because it features Robert Downey Jr fighting topless and handcuffed to a bed naked!

This installment follows the mischief-making heroines of St. Trinian’s as they set off on a treasure hunt after they discover headmistress Miss Fritton is related to pirates.

This is exactly what you expect from a St Trinians film, lots of daftness and laughter and exactly what you need when the whole country has ground to a halt due to the snow!

When Sony and AEG announced in August that they were partnering to release a film chronicling Michael Jackson’s final preparations for his ill-fated London tour, cynics expected little more than a ghoulish glimpse into the troubled pop star’s last desperate days before his untimely death. But even the hardiest of cynics will find themselves tapping their feet, bobbing their heads and perhaps even clapping their hands at times during This Is It, an exuberant tribute to Jackson’s unsurpassed musical legacy.

For someone who was alledgedly a drug addict, MJ certainly had a lot of energy, seemed extremely focused and had a big say on exactly what was going to happen in the concerts. I honestly wasn’t expecting a lot from this film and am not a huge MJ fan, but I have to say I was very impressed with what I saw and the dedication of every one involved in it.

Romantic mush, but easy enough to watch on a lazy Sunday morning :-)
